3D Block-Outs
At Hero Forge, I managed many freelancers and sometimes it was more efficient to take a concept to completion. In this particular case, the perspective shots weren't working well and I made the decision to block out these in Maya and build a full Orthographic Concepts. I art directed these assets by providing both reference from our site and a mood board collage of found art.
Blocking these up in 3d allowed me to explore and become more familiar with our stye (3d Printed Customizable Miniatures) and also get a feel of what is "bulky" vs what is proper scaling of details. Similar to video game production, our models have to meet certain technical specifications that allow it to be printed at a small size and still retain the correct level of detail that engages the user.
